How do you reset the "empty" xerox ink level notification on a refilled 8R7881 black cartridge, being used on a WorkCenter XK50cx? (printer will not print with this notification). The low xerox ink indication is triggered by hardware within the xerox ink cartridge. The xerox ink cartridges have unique hardware identification numbers assigned to them and when that number changes, the unit knows that a new xerox ink cartridge has been installed and resets the xerox ink counters however since the customer has refilled a cartridge that the unit is familiar with, the customer will have to manually reset xerox ink counters by performing the reset. Another way around this is by having 3 cartridges, since Xerox only has enough memory for 2 cartridges on the third cartridge it will reset. You can also trick the printer by unplugging it from the outlet on the wall (make sure that the cartridge is removed from the unit) for 24 hours this will erase the internal memory since no power is being supplied.
